Site-Wide Activity

Understood. I would suggest that you write at least one sentence per day. When we know we’re making progress, even a tiny amount, it is easier to keep your mood high.

Second, I STRONGLY suggest that you focus on your MORNING RITUAL. Your ability to see solutions, or enroll people in your life (hiring you!) is based upon your energy level. If…[Read more]

Can you tell us a story about a time your sense of humor turned the tide in a situation?

Here’s a quick breakdown of a classic film: Casablanca

Challenge: For the hero, Rick, to awaken to the fact that he is morally dead
Rejection: his heart has been broken, and he cannot deal with the pain.
Acceptance: His former sweetheart Ilsa comes to Casablanca, setting in motion actions that force him to awaken.
Road of Trials: the Letters of…[Read more]

“What a woman”–you could look at a woman of sexual experience as someone to teach you, help you open up. The choice is yours.

I’m not really feeling the specific idea of “developing” your inner feminine side…but I do think you need to get in touch with it, let it nurture you so that you aren’t so desperately hungry for that nurturance from…[Read more]

When you really love yourself, you don’t much care what other people think about you. If you NEED them to approve of you, you are behaving like a dependent child.

Your first goal should be to double your energy. That will impact EVERYTHING else you do. Look into the following arenas:
    1) Exercise. Are you moving your body? Sweating 3-6 times a week for 20-30 minutes?
    2) Rest. Getting enough sleep? Most people need 7-8 hours a night for full recovery.
    3) Food. What is the quality of the food you’re…[Read more]

I love this! I’ll have to think about it. Off the cuff: I’m really good at listening to people. I’m also good at seeing the humor in any situation.

Two – the two short ‘Player’ stories, ‘Fantasia’ and ‘Kirchgessner’. I’ve been rethinking the two novels that started accreting over the last several years, wanting to apply the lessons learned and relearned here.
Honestly, I’m not working on this very hard: having great difficulties finding a new job after quite some time pounding the pavement.

Hi Steven – some more things popped up:

” Wow! What a woman! ” – that sentence from you – what does YOU impress so much about what I´ve told about my couple? Do you like her style??

You also talked about “inner work” – I think you`ve meant meditation by that…

On another place you`ve talked about developing my inner females side – so I dont…[Read more]

Could you explain what that sentence means:
“The first step is loving yourself enough that none of your self-image comes from other people.”
    ?

    Just saw your answer, Steven…

    I confronted myself a lot with that woman… (constructively) – still a hell of a growth…

Still have an issue that she did what men “normally” do – picking up “youngster” – she normally had one-night-stands with (a lot) guys that where around 10 years younger…

Somehow I got thru the rest of the pain (dont…[Read more]

    Ok. Thanks you all.
I definitely want to go for it now…
    2 Challenges:
    1) I am really low on energy.
    2) I dont know what I want – I already got an answer – I first have to find out WHO I AM (12 months)… which will lead me to what I want… I am still in the “void”.

    3) a technical issue: I dont get an email confirmation when answers come – even…[Read more]

How many stories have you written since joining Lifewriting, Tom?

  • Steven Barnes replied to the topic in the forum Site-Wide Activity 7 years, 4 months ago

Wonderful. Gratitude is a wonderful cure for fear. Filling your heart with it reminds us that the universe can be a nurturing place, and that our dreams can come true. EMOTION IS THE FUEL OF SUCCESS. If you will take time every day to fill yourself with love, and hope, and gratitude, your writing will flow from your deepest wells, and you’ll…[Read more]

Keeping this going: Today I am grateful for teachers who are a calming, generous and determined voice for change.
Grateful for a willingness to learn.
Grateful for the ability to dust off, calm the busy-busy-trivia mind the holidays seem to feed, and to begin again.
Grateful for a brief vacation from the busy-outrage-insanity-awareness tornado…[Read more]

    How is that story going?

  • Steven Barnes replied to the topic in the forum Site-Wide Activity 7 years, 4 months ago

Here’s a good “bottom line”–one sentence per day. EVERY DAY. NO EXCEPTIONS. Do this, and you’ll open the “circuitry” that connects emotions, intellect and physical action. It is this combination that will take you to your goal. Cut any ONE of those threads, and your entire venture fails. Work consciously to strengthen all three, and you are a…[Read more]

I was an early reader. I admired the storytelling abilities of one of my father’s friends, and that (plus a lot of time at our town’s public library) gave me the idea I could be a storyteller, too.
But I quickly noticed no one much wanted to listen to me the way I listened to Herb.
    That left . . . print.
I liked the Colby series on military…[Read more]

    Hello,

Happy New Year to all. For 2017 my purpose is to be a creator of content. I will be writing fiction, short stories 2 a month. I will be posting blogs essays, maintaining my website and developing a podcast. Once writing this out it looks like a lot, so January is the month for working out the schedule so that I get things done.
