that you are most powerful in?

As we build this community, we need to not only strengthen our weaknesses, but also marshal our strengths.

My strength is that I can find more than one way to solve/fix a situation.

    What are yours?

Tom, what part did you enjoy about the application of The Heroes Journey in that movie/show?

  • Tom Barclay replied to the topic in the forum Site-Wide Activity 9 years, 4 months ago

Certainly ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ follows the form.

The Australian tv series ‘Glitch’ seems to follow it for each character.

Yes. I do that meditation (it is the Yoga Nidra Version with the inner garden with the guardian?)

    Good you are still available…

This meditation ALONE will do the trick? No outer work necessary?
Would sleeping with more beautiful women help? The pain is hidden there anyway.
And: Even if I had less lovers than her – cannot I be a fantastic lover…[Read more]

Excellent question. As we come to the end of the year, we can all stand to get re-focused:

WHAT DO YOU WANT? WHY DO YOU WANT IT? HOW ARE YOU GOING TO ACCOMPLISH IT, ONE DAY/WEEK/MONTH at a time?

Start with the “what” and then power it with the “why” and you’ll transform your life.

If you don’t know, then you can’t care, and you won’t act. Star with WHAT IS YOUR OUTCOME? Then WHY DO YOU WANT IT? Only then do you bother with “How do I do it?”

So Neo, if you knew what the next step was, what would it be?

Keeping in mind that you can explore, and change your mind and try something different if it doesn’t work for you. 🙂

I remember in the Lifewriting course, there was a breakdown for analyzing movies with The Heroes Journey.

What *recent* movie did you see and enjoy that hewed close to the Heroes Journey outline?

You cannot be grateful and fearful at the same time–that shift in focus makes the difference in the quality of your experience and life. Can you think of a film or book where a character learned to shift focus?

    Hi!

I am grateful for my health, strength, and family.

I am grateful for the Internet, which makes it exponentially easier to build communities of caring, like-minded people to support one another.

I am grateful for my home, electricity, running water, and indoor plumbing. 🙂

I am grateful that 99% of my problems are #FirstWorldProblems,…[Read more]

Great offer, Tom. I’ll put an email out to the community and let them know you’re available!

  • Tom Barclay replied to the topic in the forum Site-Wide Activity 9 years, 4 months ago

Good idea – that will streamline the process a whole lot.

Here’s the link to the Lifewriting style analysis of RJ’s story “War Artist”. We had a wonderful time. Listen, take notes, and understand the power of the Hero’s Journey to peer into the story and the process of creating story. Then take this tool into your writer’s…[Read more]

So we’ll be working on ways for you to send messages directly to a member. If there is a story you’d like to swap work on, tell the writer that by posting after their story. If they don’t respond send us an email at support@masteryplus.com and we’ll forward your email to the appropriate person.

What doesn’t work? Blaming and shaming and guilt. What does? Focusing on blessings, taking action, and helping other givers. We cannot feel gratitude and fear or depression at the same time.

And of course I’d appreciate the return of the favor.

My strengths as a reader? Better than average (by a lot) at grammar, spelling, syntax and diction. The nuns got me to where I was good at diagramming sentences, so structure problems in a sentence jump out at me.

My day job, most recently, is tech writing, so I see written logic and…[Read more]

OK the post I had intended to write was a list of things that do/don’t help in both the short and long term. Obviously mine will be a personal list, but I’d be very interested to see other people’s lists.

    I’ll start with the unhelpful.

What Seems Like It Will Help, But Doesn’t
-thinking it out–usually just goes in spirals
    -eating…[Read more]
