Not at this time. The story should be short enough that we can all read it, so say no more than 3-5 thousand words. The shorter the better, so long as it is complete.
Good luck!

How is the writing going, Ellen? And if you hit a break-down, what were the techniques your mind used to side-track you? Keeping track of these robs them of their power.

I found my passion simply by noticing what kinds of books and movies I enjoyed absorbing. My “style” simply by writing until my writing sounds like the way I speak. Another fast way to develop style is to deliberately imitate the style of authors you admire. If you imitate enough different writers, the flavor that emerges is your own.

Hi, I am catching up on webinars that I missed. In this first one, you all mentioned that you would share a list of books that meant most to you, per someone’s request. Did you already share this list (Steven quickly shared 2 books)? I am also interested in how these books influences your style and chosen genre of writing or, if they do not, how…[Read more]

Thank you for the link, Ellen. I think its a great idea. Why not do a “spoiler” label, and then analyze the story for us, using the “Hero’s Journey”
1) Hero confronted with challenge (what is at stake? What do they want?)
2) Rejects challenge (what fear stops them?)
3) Accepts challenge (what motivates them to move through resistance?)
4) Road…[Read more] -

Our dear RJ:
You are EXACTLY the kind of writer we were looking for!
1) Everything feels fake. THIS is the feeling that stops you. You are just forcing it into the open. This is all your resistance, impostor syndrome, negative voices. Know that you now have the opportunity to actually observe it. All you have to do is commit to your…[Read more] -

Hey, George! Glad to have you. Glad to have you! So The idea is to take your writing to the next level: finishing work, submitting work, climbing to your highest level of capacity, and enjoying the process all the way. How can we support you? Look at the pattern, begin at #1, and report back on where you hit a weak link:
1) Write 1-4 stories…[Read more] -

Not great, thanks for asking. I’m hoping to add something to my morning coffee as Ellen suggested, but haven’t settled on what movement or phrase to use. Everything feels kind of false. Which I guess is the point–it becomes true through repetition.
I’m just in a year-long funk. In part I think b/c I had expectations and hope. I had a number of…[Read more]

Hi everybody! Jumping in on the intra thread as a latecomer who’ll desperately be trying to catch up with the last five weeks over the next couple.
My name is George Van Wagner, and I go by GVDub in the usual social media places. Been a professional musician and/or laborer in the fields of musical instrument manufacturing (a.k.a. M.I.) pretty…[Read more]
