    Steven’s advice in one of the last lessons was to read one level higher than your ambition. For the machine, his advice is to write short fiction. Well, I don’t read much short fiction, and I’m one of those people whose ambitions are through the roof. Whose short fiction should I be reading? Who is absolutely the best at the form?

    That said, I have started three short stories since the class began. I finished one. Another was a very hard sci-fi story where I got bogged down in science. I intend to spend the long weekend untangling some of that. The third I just… stopped. I should probably finish it.
