Start with how it looks. Just get the moves roughly. the important thing is relaxation. And maybe noticing how judgmental you are. Breathe, breathe, and relax. Corrections can be made in many ways, including Skype, if enough people request that option.

It’s about you not dealing with your fear. I believe that you need to heal the wound that limits your finances. Do that, and you’ll be more secure, and see what needs to be done more clearly. This lady has the right to keep talking about her past–she needs and deserves to know that you aren’t going to judge her. If not, she CANNOT trust you…[Read more]

In a feudal land where magic comes in many forms, the highest honor a commoner may aspire to is to be “Chosen”; Found worthy by a spiritual guide/partner who just happens to look like a horse, but transcends horses in almost every way, Chosen to be trained as a hero, but: What if? What if one of these magical creatures came too late? What if one…[Read more]

Thanks! You all have given me a lot to think about.
Steve–I wonder if you could point us to some more specific examples of the exercises/affirmations people have used with the “morning ritual.” If I lived in LA I would have definitely gone to your event the other week! I get the basic idea, but I would find it helpful to see some examples.

This is a fabulous conversation, linked into the Core Questions: “what is true?” and “who am I?” Lovely. Try this: all anger is rooted in fear. Find out what that fear is, alleviate it, and the anger dissolves. Fear can paralyze. Anger mobilizes, which is why our brains use that tool. But Faith and Love can neutralize fear without weakening…[Read more]

The “I don’t WANNA!” is 100% predictable. The way through it is faith, and a way to implant faith is the “Morning Ritual”. Now, you won’t stick with THAT either, at first. That’s just a fact of people. laugh at it. You’ll have to get back on the horse a few times. But if you will accept support for just this piece of the puzzle, you’ll begin…[Read more]

That’s fine. Different stories take different times. You might even take three months to write one story, two days to write each of three others, getting you a good average. Have fun!

This may be a stretch, but can you lay even long-term plans to change where you live? Even making plans, no matter how far-fetched, may give you more of a sense of control–and if you DECIDE to stay where you are rather than feeling trapped, that may help too.
Just a thought. Aside from that–what everybody else said. 🙂

I think so it’s fine. Set the goal, but realize that there are multiple paths to the goal. Sometimes we have to invent paths that fit our consciousness, ones that no one else has thought of.

I don’t know if this will be helpful, but I created a video on goal setting and quitting smoking, which applies to all kinds of things. It follows the ideas that Steven has been advocating, so there’s probably nothing new here other than I bet this is a story you haven’t heard quite in this way. (These videos derived from work I did for many years…[Read more]

Thanks for your thoughtful comments, Amanda and RJ. I agree that reactive anger has a constructive purpose (the reptile brain version, as RJ notes). I am more wary of anger as a choice that is indulged in.
The first great work of narrative in western lit is Homer’s Iliad, which explicitly deals with the consequences of Achilles’ anger. The arc of…[Read more]

There are some things you just can’t give yourself though. Otherwise people wouldn’t be social creatures.
